March 2023 newletter
The house has a mature garden featuring woodland plantings, rose walks and well maintained climbing plants. The stars of the visit were the crocuses, but, as it was a very cloudy, cold day, they were not showing themselves at their best. However, the colour combinations of the crocuses, daffodils and snowdrops in the churchyard were very impressive. There was a beautiful Cornus mas, a Cornelian cherry, which
is a European native and rare in the wild. There were scented plants such as Witch Hazel and Daphne. The house is very nicely set within the landscape, making use of the ha-ha to connect the garden to the river and out to the woodland. The tea was served in the village hall next door, and there was a wonderful selection of really delicious cakes.
